Job Description

As part of the student mentoring department at Western Governors University, we believe that the Graduation Coordinator is integral in motivating students to graduate in the shortest period of time, realizing their goals. The graduation Coordinator works in conjunction with student mentors and students to develop graduation plans that drive students to excel and graduate. Graduation Coordinators will work with every aspect of graduation, including monitoring results toward university goals ensuring that students graduation is the main role of the Graduation Coordinator. A passion for helping students graduate is essential for this position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Facilitate development of graduation plans with students and mentors, with focus on students who have been at WGU more than 3 years
  • Sell the ideas of pacing and graduation to students, leading students to their graduation goal
  • Partner with mentors in development of graduation plans
  • Monitor graduation data by discipline and work with managers and student mentors to pace students to projected graduation dates
  • Assist in development of realistic Projected Graduation Dates
  • Sell/Resell the graduation dream to students in a positive, persistent manner
  • Support the graduation goals of the discipline and university
  • Report progress on graduation goals to Senior Manager, Program Manager, and other parties
  • Analyze and report on data and reports regarding graduation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Strong customer service orientation and extraordinary communication skills
  • Technologically competent, specifically with online programs, tracking and communication technology
  • A remarkable talent for organization is a requirement
  • Must be able to spend significant time working at a computer
  • Must be able to spend significant time on the telephone
  • Must have good Microsoft Office skills and strong Internet capabilities
  • Must be able to communicate at a high level verbally and in writing
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Experience with integrated technology systems and tools
  • Expertise in one or more fields covered by the competencies required in college programs
  • Position works from home, but must be available for travel in support of college requirements

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of a master's degree in business
  • 3 years related professional experience
  • 3 years teaching experience highly desired
  • Higher education teaching and/or curricular experience
  • Certification in relevant field and/or significant experience in the professional field
