Job Description

The Assessment Program Manager (APM) will assume responsibility for all aspects of assessment program management, including all areas of the exam lifecycle. The APM will help to maintain exam validity and reliability and have working experience with exam and item-level statistics, quality control, content relevance, editing, proofing, and make necessary quality improvements throughout the exam lifecycle. The APM will create, validate, and manage the development and distribution of all related assessment documents. The APM will participate in cross-functional team meetings and communications to ensure and implement exam quality and security.


Assessment Development

  • Develop objective and performance assessments using established processes and procedures
  • Manage multiple development projects efficiently
  • Track project progress using AtTask and other productivity tools
  • Facilitate development meetings with internal stakeholders and SMEs
  • Work effectively with outside vendors to ensure products meet WGU psychometric standards
  • Communicate progress and risks to all project stakeholders
  • Coordinate with the Design Program Manager to ensure the integrity of the course blueprint throughout the development process
  • Coordinate with the SME coordinator to ensure availability of qualified SMEs for development

Team Leadership and Participation

  • Effectively manage a small team of specialists and editors
  • Appropriately allocate personnel resources
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings throughout the design and development process

Required Skills

  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Project management experience
  • Large group meeting facilitation skills
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience with AtTask and SharePoint is preferred

Required Experience

  • MA/MS/MBA in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in assessment development
  • Experience facilitating group discussions
  • IT Certification experience preferred
  • Experience managing vendor relationships
  • Understanding of online education, especially assessment in online education
  • Creative thinking to anticipate and resolve potential roadblocks to development
