As a Course Mentor in Composition, I often work with students who are over their first "flush" of romance with their return to higher education. While they dimly remember the heady first moments of passionate academic intensity—"I <em>love</em> WGU!" or "I am going to crush this first task!"—the sometimes hum-drum routines of researching, writing, and revising have dampened their initial ardor.
