With the new year approaching and resolutions in mind, let’s not forget to complete the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2014-2015 FAFSA will be available for completion January 1, 2014. It is recommended that you complete the FAFSA by January 31, 2014. It is a good idea to complete the FAFSA even if you are self-paying because you never know if grant money is available.

Remember: Federal financial aid funds need to last the whole academic year to pay for school-related expenses. Using your student loan money for other costs, such as the holidays, means after you graduate you’ll be paying off that holiday spending for the next 10 years—or more—with interest.
