In December, WGU launched the Facebook “Like” Sweepstakes, which included a drawing for a Kindle reader. This week, WGU’s Facebook page counts more than 6,000 fans. Jessica Crawford from Warren, Pennsylvania! Jessica, a student in WGU’s Teachers College and one of our new Facebook fans, was selected in a random drawing and will receive a Kindle reader.

Online education has become increasingly popular in the last decade. Students are opting for the flexibility of at-home study in lieu of an on-campus experience. Colleges and universities everywhere are following suit, allowing their students to complete all or part of their degrees using distance learning. While online university trends are on the rise, some students may be wary of the credibility and cost of earning a degree online.

WGU students Casey Jenkins and Stephen Allen were recently chosen to receive the CompTIA Education Foundation’s CompTIA IT Merit Award Scholarship. The award recognizes and rewards students who have recently achieved CompTIA certification and are pursuing a degree in Information Technology.

Consider the developments of culture and society during the Middle Ages or the basic computer systems that allowed for the first remote student-teacher interactions.
