Choose a college
There is no question that there are plenty of jobs available for registered nurses - their employment rate is growing faster than average - but how do you go about scoring your dream job? Sometimes the best jobs in nursing are never even advertised, so after earning your online nursing degree you may have to take a less traditional approach to your job search.
Build a strong professional network
While having a degree is an extremely important asset - you can't get a job as a nurse without one - it's who you know that will get you the interview ahead of other applicants. Focus on creating a strong professional network of influential people - stay connected with your instructors, advisors and anyone else in the health care industry that you've come into contact with over the years. They may be able to give you a heads up about a job opening at your dream hospital before it's even advertised.
Expand your horizons
The economy still isn't quite what it used to be, and you may need to consider a broader range of job opportunities as you search for an entry-level position. The key is to continually gain new experience in your field, so think about spending a few years in a more rural setting or working in a doctor's office instead of a hospital until your dream job becomes available. It's these experiences that will set you apart from other applicants.
