WGU Competency-Based Degree Programs: In-depth information about WGU's academic programs is available on the university's Web site.
Accreditation: Western Governors University is the only university to have received simultaneous accreditation by four regional accrediting commissions. Currently, WGU's "home" accrediting commission is the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the same organization that accredits such leading institutions as the University of Washington, University of Oregon, University of Utah, BYU, and other public and private colleges. WGU is also nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).
Disabled Student Services: WGU and its education providers make a good faith effort to provide assistance and reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities.
Tuition: Tuition is charged based on six month terms and includes assessments, academic advising or mentoring, courses and other learning resources as scheduled in the student's Academic Action Plan.
Program Withdrawal and Tuition Refunds: You must contact your mentor if you intend to withdraw from a WGU degree program. If you receive financial aid from Western Governors University and then withdraw or stop progress through the completion of the 60 percent point of the six-month academic period of enrollment for which you were charged WGU tuition, you may be subject to repayment of a portion of the financial aid you receive for books, travel or technology.
WGU Faculty and Academic Leadership: Information about WGU's faculty and academic leaders is available on the university's Web site.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP): All students are required to maintain satisfactory academic progress and make measurable progress toward a degree. Satisfactory academic progress is measured both qualitatively and quantitatively by reviewing the number of competency units students complete each term.
Student Services Center: Student services staff are trained to assist you with consumer information and all of your WGU questions or needs. The staff can also offer consumer information to students. You can contact the student services center via e-mail at info@wgu.edu or toll-free at 877-HELP-WGU (877-435-7948) 8 am to 5 pm, MT, Monday through Friday.
Prevention of Substance Abuse: Alcohol and drug abuse prevention information and links are through the university's Web site.
FERPA: The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 was designed to protect the privacy of education records; to establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records; and to provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearings.
Financial Aid Office: You can contact the financial aid office via e-mail at finaid@wgu.edu or call toll free 1-877-435-7948 ext. 3104. Financial Aid counselors are available from 8:30 to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, Mountain Standard Time.
Applying for Financial Aid at WGU: Apply online for financial aid.
Financial Aid Eligibility: See the WGU Web site for general information about financial aid eligibility and/or the Department of Education's Student Guide and Student Aid on the Web. WGU students who are eligible for federal aid may receive Pell Grants and/or Federal Stafford Loans (both subsidized and unsubsidized).
Disbursement of Financial Aid Funds: Financial aid funds should be used for approved educational and living expenses only. This can include WGU tuition, technology, books and supplies, room and board, and travel for assessments.
Students Rights and Responsibilities: Students receiving financial aid have rights and responsibilities and must abide by WGU's code of conduct. Student loan borrowers should review the Department of Education's Student Guide.
Loan Repayment, Deferment and Exit Counseling: Review the Department of Education's Student Guide for more information about loan repayment and the required exit counseling. (See "Repaying Your Student Loans".)

"Opened doors…"
"WGU has opened doors for me that I would not have been able to access without an extreme inconvenience for my family, my career, and myself."
—Connie Keogh, WGU graduate
"On my own time…"
"I chose WGU because of the freedom of doing the work on my own time and at my own pace. In the past, I had started master's programs twice through regular universities and found the class schedules impossible to fit into my schedule."
—Dennis Nalder, WGU graduate student
"Speed their licensure…"
WGU Teachers College will be a boon to states seeking training for current teachers and paraprofessionals to help them meet the education requirements under the No Child Left Behind Act and speed their licensure."
