WGU Go Further in Nursing Scholarship

In honor of National Nurses Week, Western Governors University is proud to offer the Go Further in Nursing Scholarship. National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6 through May 12. To celebrate Nurses Week, WGU will award five scholarships, each valued up to $500, to motivated nurses who are ready to take on the increasing challenges of today’s hospitals. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 28, 2013.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:

Be a licensed RN.
Complete an application for admission.
Complete the scholarship application, including an essay on "How My Education at WGU Will Make Me a More Effective Nurse."

Five scholarships will be awarded. However, this is a competitive program and scholarships will be awarded based upon a candidate’s academic record, readiness for online study at WGU, and current competency, plus other considerations.

NOTE:This scholarship is for new WGU nursing students only. WGU employees and their spouses are not eligible to receive this scholarship.

Scholarship Policies

Before monies are distributed, the scholarship recipients must read the WGU Student Handbook and agree to and understand the academic progress, tuition, and refund policies. The student will also be required to sign a WGU Scholarship Agreement before monies will be awarded.

Scholarship Value: $500 maximum

This $500 scholarship will be credited to your first six-month term only.

M.S. Nursing—Education (for RNs with BSNs)
M.S. Nursing—Leadership and Management (for RNs with BSNs)
M.S. Nursing—Education (RN to MSN Option)
M.S. Nursing—Leadership and Management (RN to MSN Option)
MBA Healthcare Management

Federal Financial Aid is Also Available

You may choose to pay for the remaining portion of your degree through federal financial aid (subject to your eligibility). Federal Pell Grants, which do not have to be repaid, are granted based upon financial need. Federal unsubsidized student loans are available to most students.
