Perfect for Your Busy Life
You face many challenges-working full time, caring for your family-all the while trying to further your education. Going to a traditional university campus just will not work with your schedule.

WGU is a unique, regionally-accredited university that grants degrees and certificates based completely on competencies—your ability to demonstrate your skills and knowledge on a series of assessments carefully selected to measure your knowledge of a field of study—rather than through required courses.

  • Obtain your degree completely online—from any location
  • Use the knowledge you gained from prior work, academic, or life experience through assessments and move through your degree program more quickly
  • Avoid taking courses in areas you have already mastered
  • Study at a time and place convenient to you

About the Scholarship
A WGU Scholarship for a Master's Degree for Educators working in Title I schools in Utah is valued up to $4,000. The scholarship will be credited to your account at the rate of $800 per six-month term. Although WGU's competency-based model allows students to complete the requirements of a master's degree in less than two and a half years, the scholarship awards are based on a reasonable experience of five six-month terms to complete the program.

The scholarship recipient must read the WGU Student Handbook and agree to and understand the tuition and refund policies. The student will also be required to sign a WGU Scholarship Agreement before these monies will be awarded. The student must also meet the university's Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements to maintain scholarship eligibility.

Tuition for a six-month term is $2,890, less the $800 per term scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Submit official transcripts of all prior college work.
  • Interview with a WGU Enrollment Counselor prior to the award decision.
  • Note: Students currently enrolled in WGU degree programs are not eligible.

Financial Aid is Also Available
You may choose to pay for the remaining portion of your degree through federal financial aid (subject to your eligibility). Pell Grants, which do not have to be repaid, are granted based upon financial need. Federal Direct Student Loans are available to all students. Subsidized loans, which are dependent on financial need, reduce the interest due on the loans.

WGU is an accredited university founded and supported by 19 governors and more than 20 corporate and foundation partners.

If you would like to discuss the scholarship program or WGU's degrees before submitting an application for the scholarship, feel free to speak to an enrollment counselor at 1-866-225-5948.

"Opened doors…"
"WGU has opened doors for me that I would not have been able to access without an extreme inconvenience for my family, my career, and myself."
—Connie Keogh, WGU graduate
"On my own time…"
"I chose WGU because of the freedom of doing the work on my own time and at my own pace. In the past, I had started master's programs twice through regular universities and found the class schedules impossible to fit into my schedule."
—Dennis Nalder, WGU graduate student
"Speed their licensure…"
WGU Teachers College will be a boon to states seeking training for current teachers and paraprofessionals to help them meet the education requirements under the No Child Left Behind Act and speed their licensure."
