WGU Receives Utah's Best of State Medal

WGU has been chosen as the 2007 Best of State medal recipient in the Education category of Educational/Training Institution/Service. The criteria for judging included organizations that excel in their endeavors, use innovative approaches or methods and contribute to a better quality of life in Utah. Specifically, 50 percent of the judging involved achievement in the field of endeavor, 30 percent involved innovation or creativity in approaches, techniques, methods or processes used and 20 percent focused on contributions to improving the quality of life in Utah. Though WGU has a national and international reach in terms of serving students, WGU was judged in that regard, as an institution with a home base in Salt Lake. More than 100 judges reviewed all nominations individually, not as a group, so as not to prejudice each other with comments or lobbying. The process was overseen by the independent certified public accounting firm of Gilbert & Stewart, P.C., which collected and tabulated the scores. WGU will receive the medal at the Best of State gala at the Salt Palace, on May 19th. Congratulations to all students and staff!
