WGU Names Two New Key Leaders: Provost and Chief Technology Officer
NEW WGU PROVOST
Western Governors University is pleased to announce that Sal Monaco, Ph.D., has been appointed as our new provost and
vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Monaco joins WGU following a distinguished career developing and delivering
high-quality educational programs in business, technology, health care administration, and education. Dr. Monaco was at
University of Maryland University College (UMUC), serving until 2006 as vice provost and dean of the Graduate School of
Management and Technology delivering online degrees to more than 12,000 students enrolled in 20 degree and
40 certificate programs.
He also served as interim president of the New England College of Finance in Boston, Massachusetts, and most
recently as provost and executive vice president of the American College of Education. He holds a B.S.E. from Manhattan
College, an M.S.E. from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. from the Lally School of Management and Technology at
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He joins us on January 21, 2008.

NEW CTO NAMED AT WGU
Western Governors University has appointed Dave Wilson as its new chief technology officer. Wilson joins the university
following a long and distinguished career path. A technology visionary who leverages entrepreneurial enthusiasm and a
diverse skill set, Dave Wilson is a veteran project manager and team builder, with broad hands-on abilities and current
technical skills. He led the creation of a successful new information system at Genova Diagnostics, as well as leading a
multidisciplinary engineering team at KOZ.com, involving some of the first commercial online offerings for K-12 and university
education. Wilson also worked at Link Flight Simulation, creating environments for pilot training. He holds a B.S. in
electrical engineering from Clarkson University.
WGU President Dr. Robert Mendenhall is extremely pleased that Dave Wilson is joining the university's top management
