Courses of Study/Assessments
|
 |
|
As
a competency-based university, WGU does not award credit. Instead, progress through your
program is determined by demonstrating your competence through carefully designed
assessments and completion of a portfolio and a capstone project. Students complete the
courses of study/assessments listed below in order to graduate. The assessments are
required, while the courses of study are required only insofar that they help students to
succeed on the assessments.
For ease of understanding, WGU has assigned competency units to its courses of study/assessments
as indicated below. A competency unit is equivalent to a semester credit of learning. WGU terms
are six-months in length. During a typical term, undergraduate servicepersons will be expected to complete
5 to 8 Competency Units (4 to 7 Competency Units for graduate
programs). Grades are pass/fail; a "pass" at WGU is equivalent to a letter grade of "B" or better.
For more information about these courses of study/assessments, please speak to your enrollment counselor.
