Courses of Study/Assessments
|
 |
|
As a competency-based university, WGU does not award credit. Instead, progress through
your program is determined by demonstrating your competence through carefully designed
assessments and completion of a portfolio and a capstone project. Students complete the
courses of study/assessments listed below in order to graduate. The assessments are required, while the courses of study are required only insofar that they help students to succeed on the assessments. A transcript analysis may clear some requirements based upon your previous college experience.
For ease of understanding, WGU has assigned competency units to its courses of study/assessments
as indicated below. A competency unit is equivalent to a semester credit of learning. WGU
terms are six-months in length. During a typical term, undergraduate servicepersons will be expected to complete
5 to 8 Competency Units. Grades are pass/fail; a "pass" at WGU is equivalent to a
letter grade of "B" or better.
For more information about these courses of study/assessments, please see the Program Guide (PDF) or
speak to your enrollment counselor.
