The Winter Commencement for Western Governors University was held February 16, 2008, at the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Students and families who could not attend were able to watch the live video stream of the ceremony via the Internet.
More than 70 students from 27 states attended the ceremony. At this graduation degrees were awarded to 610 students from 48 states, making it the largest graduating class ever for WGU, which holds graduations twice each year. WGU awarded 397 undergraduate degrees and 213 graduate degrees to this graduating class. These include 376 degrees and certificates from the WGU Teachers College, 160 degrees from the College of Business, 69 degrees from the College of Information
Technology and one degree from the College of Health Professions. The average age of these WGU graduates was 39. The youngest was 20 and the oldest was 60.
