Whether you're a graduate or you're celebrating a friend or loved one who is, whether you're planning to join us for commencement in Salt Lake City on July 12 or you'll be watching online from home, and whether you're a social media junkie or just a novice, we hope you'll celebrate our graduates' success stories online with us this summer. Social media is a great way to display your Night Owl pride to the world—and we're sweetening the pot with prizes!
So if you're taking to social media this commencement season—before, during, and after the ceremony—be sure to use the hashtag #WGUgrad to be part of the virtual celebration. Start snapping those cap-and-gown selfies, documenting your road trip to SLC, and tweeting your messages of congratulations today. Every social post tagged with #WGUgrad is an entry to win!
Here are the platforms we'll be using:
We will posting news, activities, pictures, and more on the WGU Facebook Page. If you're not already a WGU fan on Facebook, click “like” below to get regular updates. You can post your #WGUgrad messages directly onto our timeline, or post photos and status updates to your own timeline—just remember to tag @Western Governors University and use that hashtag!
Prefer filtered selfies to Facebook statuses? No problem! We will be sharing pics from our grads and their supporters on Instagram too, where we go by WesternGovernorsU! Just be sure to tag @WesternGovernorsU and #WGUgrad in your Instagram posts so we will see them!
Like things more concise (140 characters or less, to be exact)? Then Twitter is the place to be! We will tweeting and retweeting all commencement season, so if you have something to share with your followers or ours, tag @WGU and hashtag #WGUgrad!
More of a Google guy or gal? We hear ya! Put us in your circles, and we'll put you in ours—the #WGUgrad conversation will be going strong there as well! And just like everywhere else, remember to tag @Western Governors University and throw that hashtag in!
Whether you're planning an entire Commencement board or just pinning a few commencement watch-party ideas to your Party Planning board, there's certain to be lots of great #WGUgrad stuff to pin as well. And if you're not already following our boards, what are you waiting for?
So, whether you're waiting in the audience, in line, or at home, pull out your digital devices and give yourself or your grad a giant pat on the back! We'll be amplifying, retweeting, favoriting, liking, repinning, and +1'ing and as HARD AS WE CAN! We may even send someone up to shout from the rooftops! Congratulations!
And one more thing!
We will be selecting random posts on all three social media channels to win awesome prizes! But to count as an entry, your post must use the #WGUgrad hashtag—no matter what platform you post it on!
