Choose a college
A student’s cost of attendance (COA) is established for use in determining a student’s eligibility for all FSA program funds, including the Federal Pell Grant Program, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS), Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Direct PLUS Loan, and the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program. It is an estimate of the student’s educational expenses for the academic year.
The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), defines the COA components for all federal student aid (FSA) programs. These components include direct and indirect expenses.
The university COA consists of the following components:
The university reviews, and if necessary, updates each component annually and reviews actual institutional data.
Loans at Multiple Schools
If a student is attending other schools while attending the university and receiving Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized, or PLUS loans at the other school(s) for the same period of enrollment, the university will coordinate with other school(s) to ensure there is no duplication of living expenses (room and board) when determining the student’s COA.
