Online, competency-based university supports professional development with scholarships of up to $2,000 towards bachelor’s degrees in business SALT LAKE CITY — Western Governors University (WGU), www.wgu.edu, is encouraging business leaders with some college experience to continue their professional development with a new scholarship for degree programs in the online competency-based university’s College of Business. The Emerging Leaders in Business Scholarship is designed for new students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business. The scholarships provide $500 per six-month term for up to four terms. The total scholarship value is $2,000. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, students must have completed an associate’s degree or at least 40 college credits. Applicants must also be working as a business professional and have completed an application for admission to WGU. Other requirements include completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), an interview with a WGU Scholarship Counselor, and an essay describing why they want to finish their degree. Degree programs eligible for the scholarship include: B.S. Business Management B.S. Business—Human Resource Management B.S. Business—Information Technology Management B.S. Sales and Sales Management B.S. Marketing Management B.S. Accounting While WGU will award multiple scholarships, the Emerging Leaders in Business Scholarship is a competitive program.
