WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY

Be Featured in WGU Marketing

Photoshoots, videos, commercials—help tell the Night Owl story.

Join an Exciting Opportunity with WGU's Creative Marketing Team

Have you ever imagined seeing yourself in a WGU commercial, on our website, or featured in materials that inspire future Night Owls? Here’s your chance. WGU’s Creative Marketing Team is building a roster of students to participate in upcoming photoshoots and video projects—on campus, in studio, and at select events and commencements.

  • Be the face of WGU. Share your story and represent the Night Owl community.
  • Flexible and fun. Opportunities vary from quick video interviews to multi-day brand campaigns.
  • Local and on the road. Shoots happen in Salt Lake City and commencement host cities.

How It Works

  • Step 1: Sign up using the form to join our interest list.
  • Step 2: We’ll review submissions and reach out when opportunities match your location, schedule, and story.
  • Step 3: Participate in a shoot—solo or with fellow Night Owls—and help inspire future students.

Note: Participation is volunteer-based. Selection and timing depend on project needs and scheduling.

Where We’re Filming

What to Expect

  • Time commitment: Varies by project. Some shoots may only take a few hours, while others could span multiple days. We’ll always let you know what’s involved ahead of time so you can decide what works best for you.
  • Wardrobe: Simple, camera-friendly attire; we’ll share guidance beforehand. Some clothing will be provided (scrubs, gowns, etc.).
  • Support: You’ll be guided by our Creative Marketing Team the entire time.
  • Deliverables: Photos and/or video that may appear on WGU channels (website, social, ads, email, print).

We’ll provide directions, parking details, and a day-of contact as your shoot approaches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can sign up?
WGU students and graduates in good standing. All schools and degree programs welcome.

Is this paid?
These are volunteer opportunities, so compensation isn’t provided. Travel is typically not covered for projects like commencement shoots, as most participants are already on location for graduation. However, for certain projects—such as select shoots in Salt Lake City—WGU may provide travel and lodging. We’ll always note those opportunities clearly in our outreach.

How are participants selected?
Selections are based on timing, location, availability, and story fit for each project.

Will I need to sign anything?
Yes. Selected participants will sign a standard media release allowing WGU to use your photo/video for marketing.
