How the ReNEW Program Works for Donors
ReNEW is a nursing workforce fund. It represents a partnership among WGU, Social Finance, partner employers, and donors like you.
- You donate to the Fund. Your contribution goes directly to supporting the financial needs of low-income students.
- The Fund helps pay for student costs in WGU’s BSN (Prelicensure) program. Qualifying students get a zero-interest loan from the ReNEW Fund to help cover the cost of tuition, in-person labs, and clinical placements for the last two years of their program.
- Partner employers hire ReNEW Fund grads and pay into the Fund, enabling the Fund to help more nursing students.
- Repayments into the Fund are used to train new nurses. Your contributions and payments from partner employers continue to help train new nurses and employ them in states across the country.

Addressing Critical
Talent Shortages
With over 110,000 lifetime graduates nationwide, WGU’s Leavitt School of Health is recognized as an important healthcare education leader and talent provider. With support from the Fund, WGU aims to prepare thousands of additional nursing graduates.
Why Become a ReNEW Donor?
Make a difference in an aspiring nurse’s life.
Nursing education is expensive, and the last two years of prelicensure come with additional costs like travel to labs and clinicals. Your contribution makes completing their education possible.
Make a difference in your community.
It’s no secret that there’s a nursing shortage across the country, and with the cost of earning prelicensure increasing, finding qualified nurses to fill critical roles is a challenge. Your contribution to the ReNEW fund allows prospective nurses to overcome financial barriers, earn their degree, and enter the workforce.
Strengthen the pipeline of qualified nurses.
One supported student can mean years of high-quality patient care and thousands of lives touched. Your contribution can be both long-lasting and high-impact.
Advance health equity.
By donating to the ReNEW fund, you'll help create a workforce that reflects the communities served, help improve the quality of care, and lessen health disparities.
