Deb Tabert, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

I have been a nurse for 35 years, and I chose WGU because it recognized my valuable work experience.
WGU caters to people with a lot of work experience like me. The way that they recognized my experience was using the competency-based model. I can demonstrate that I know the curriculum by taking tests or writing papers, and then I move on to the next course. I start out by getting a course of study in a Degree Plan, and if I understand it and can follow it, great! But I also know there are resources available. If I hit a stumbling block, I can ask a course mentor for help, or I can go online and ask the study group. I feel that I didn’t need a high level of hand-holding, but it was nice to know the resources are there for me to succeed.
