Meet the Speakers:
Dr. Ashley W. Dugger began her career in higher education leadership and has since focused on operational leadership and human resource management. Ashley holds a Doctorate of Business Administration with a focus in management, as well as her SHRM-CP certification. She joined WGU as the Program Chair for the HR Management degree in 2019, and currently serves as the Associate Dean and Director for HR programs in the School of Business at WGU. She also has extensive experience as a faculty member at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and has focused her faculty work primarily with adult learners in online education. Ashley has presented for organizations such as ACBSP, Online Learning Consortium, SHRM, and CUPA-HR. Her work has been published with HR Professionals Magazine, Talent Management, Chief Learning Officer, and Higher Ed HR Magazine.
Dr. Sandra Sjoberg is the Associate Dean & Director of Marketing & Innovation Programs at Western Governors University. She has redeveloped the undergraduate marketing program and recently launched two new graduate marketing degree programs at WGU. In addition to her administrative role in Higher Education, Sandra has twelve years of classroom experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg Maryland, where she developed an international marketing program that included team-teaching and short-term study abroad programs with South Ural State University in Chelyabinsk, Russia. She authored a Fulbright grant and brought the first Fulbright Scholar to Mount St. Mary’s University Bolte School of Business. Prior to academia, Sandra had over sixteen years of consumer product industry experience with Newell Rubbermaid, The Coca-Cola Company, Kraft Foods, Nabisco Foods Group, and Pepsi-Cola. She has a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University, holds an MBA in marketing from Vanderbilt University, and a BS degree in marketing and finance from the University of Baltimore. She is a Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP) from American Marketing Association and Digital Marketing Institute and is certified through OMCP as an Online Marketing Certified Associate.
Jim Franklin is an Associate Dean for the School of Business at Western Governors University where he leads the accounting, finance, and supply chain/operations management programs. Jim is passionate about breaking down the financial, time and distance barriers to ensure that everyone has access to a high-quality education and career success. His most recent work includes serving on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants CPA Evolution committee, where he helped design the tax competencies that will be tested on future CPA examinations.
For over 10 years, Franklin served as the Program Director for the Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) Program at The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to entering academics, he spent over 10 years with Deloitte in Houston and Los Angeles. His client responsibilities included multiple Fortune 500 companies from the automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors.
Franklin holds baccalaureate and master’s degrees from The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and The University of Texas at Austin, respectively.
Joseline Castaños, Ph.D. is Associate Dean and Director for the Management and Leadership Vertical in the College of Business at WGU. Joseline is a visionary leader and educator with over 20 years of experience making a difference for students and enhancing programs. As associate dean, she oversees the BS in Business Administration, the MBA, and the MS in Management and Leadership. She engages with teams across WGU in all aspects of the programs, from marketing, enrollment, continuous improvement through development, faculty support, and student experience from start to graduation.
Nick Schroth earned two business degrees from Clemson University and has been with WGU as a Strategic Partnership Manager for two years.
