| Master of Arts in Teaching |
| Science (5-9 or 5-12) |
| Leads to teacher licensure |
| If you already have a science background, you can become a licensed teacher and earn a master's degree online. WGU's online graduate degree in science education combines preparation for teacher licensure in middle school or high school science (depending on the program selected) with additional education to earn your master's degree. The program trains you to become a highly-qualified teacher and includes supervised practice teaching in an actual classroom setting.
Note: Students entering the program should
already possess extensive background in science. Speak to an Enrollment Counselor. If it is determined you do not possess the necessary
background for entry into this program, you may enroll in a Teacher Content Preparation Program.
WGU is the only exclusively online teacher education institution in the nation to receive NCATE accreditation.

Admission Requirements
New students must submit an official transcript verifying receipt of a baccalaureate degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited institution. Candidates for admission can be admitted provisionally and begin their studies before WGU has official confirmation of completion of a baccalaureate degree. Applicants will be required to take an online admissions test that helps determine the likelihood of success in a WGU program. Applicants will be required to submit proof of meeting the Teachers College admission requirements for the state in which they reside. This can include passing a state-specific basic skills test as a pre-requisite to Demonstration Teaching (student teaching). (Registering and paying for the test is the student's responsibility.) This requirement can be met either prior to admission or before beginning the Foundations of Teaching subject area once you are enrolled in your WGU online teaching degree program. Additional requirements apply before the student is permitted in an actual classroom to practice teach during the Demonstration Teaching phase.
(An Enrollment Counselor can help you understand what is required of you.) More info about Admissions.
