WGU has been recognized for our military friendliness for more than a decade. In fact, we're honored to receive the Military Friendly School designation for the 15th consecutive year. WGU is designated as a Gold Online School and a Top 10 Military Spouse Friendly School for 2025-2026. We've also been named a Military Times Best for Vets College for 2024-2025. We also offer financial aid to make degrees even more accessible. In 2024, WGU awarded nearly $4.4 million in scholarships to military and veteran students and their families.

  • Train to standard. Don't waste time on stuff you already know. Pass assessments to speed up and earn your degree sooner.
  • Respected. WGU is fully accredited with curriculam designed by leading employers. Your degree will hold value.
  • Affordable. We're approved for VA benefits and tuition assistance. Tuition is so low that military benefits often cover most of the cost of attending WGU.

Military Education Benefits

WGU degree programs are approved for both GI Bill® benefits and Military Tuition Assistance (MTA), making education affordable for veterans, active-duty service members, family members, and those in the National Guard or Reserves. With WGU’s low tuition, these benefits may cover the full cost of tuition, fees, and books.

The Forever GI Bill® expanded eligibility for many service members and removed the 15-year time limit for recent veterans. Military personnel can apply for Tuition Assistance through their installation education office.

WGU partners with the USNCC and CCAF, making it easier for service members to earn an associate or bachelor's degree.

The competency-based approach at WGU is so unique because it allows you to accelerate through what you already know and focus more on what you don't. You don't have any set time to log in, so you can literally study at any time.
