WGU Security Report
Emergency and Safety Procedures Commitment
Western Governors University is committed to providing a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. In addition to the information found in this article, students, faculty and staff are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their conduct and safety. Faculty and staff are reminded to review the Employee Handbook for additional policies concerning behavior and students can find the Student Code of Conduct in the Student Handbook. The cooperation and involvement of everyone in campus safety is essential to minimize criminal activity.
How the Report is Compiled
This report is prepared in compliance with the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) of 1998. It informs students, faculty, and staff about WGU’s security policy.
WGU’s department of Student Services is responsible for preparing and distributing this report. Student Services worked with the Campus Security Officer (Vice President for Administration), with other WGU departments, and with local building managers and police agencies to compile the security policies and crime statistics included in this report. We make this report available to all current students and employees by publishing it on the World Wide Web. Each member of the community receives an email that describes the report and its exact web address. Anyone, including prospective students and employees, may request a paper copy of this report by contacting WGU Student Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Located in Salt Lake City, WGU’s administrative headquarters resides in an 8-story office building that borders a combination of residential, professional, and retail properties. WGU also maintains administrative offices in Phoenix, Seattle, Indianapolis, St. Louis, Nashville, and Austin, Texas, in shared commercial space. A student nursing lab facility is located in Santa Ana, California. Because each office and facility is leased commercial space with common areas shared with other tenants (e.g., stairs, elevators, parking structures, etc.), the crime statistics contained in this report include information requested from local building managers and police agencies.
