A week in Andrews’ life could find him keynoting at a leadership conference, helping a global brand with messaging, or performing for President Obama in Oprah Winfrey’s back yard. This schoolteacher-turned-national poetry slam champion has become the world’s leading “poetic voice”—a new type of speaker and artist who blends inspirational speaking with spoken-word poetry to electrify the messages of global organizations, including Google, Toyota, Nike, and PayPal.

Andrews will present one of his catalogue pieces, titled “Love Affair with Healthcare.” While his diverse presentation topics range from cloud computing to innovation to helping leaders become public speakers, Andrews has also emerged as a powerful voice for healthcare, frequently presenting for such clients as Mayo Clinic, Johnson & Johnson, Genentech and The American Nurses Association. This speech will kick-off WGU’s celebration of National Nurses Week and the annual WGU Loves Nurses campaign, scheduled for the beginning of May.

The nursing programs at WGU are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)*, the foremost accrediting body for nursing schools that offer baccalaureate and graduate degrees. In addition, WGU was named a Center of Excellence™ in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing (NLN) for 2015–2019 for creating environments that enhance student learning and professional development.

The WGU lecture series, Sage Talks, is named after the university’s mascot, Sage the Night Owl, and has been created to provide personal and professional development, inspiration, and continuing education opportunities to the community. The series features leaders and innovators in fields represented by each of WGU’s four colleges: business, education, healthcare, and information technology. Lecture topics are centered on leadership, new innovations and disruptions, and how education shapes the future.
