Over the last several weeks, several scholarship efforts have been launched to help prospective students. Those who apply will be selected based on their academic record, financial need, and readiness for online study at WGU Nevada. Here is a quick look at new scholarship opportunities:

  • Teach Nevada Scholarship – Become a teacher in the Silver State! The Teach Nevada scholarships will be awarded throughout the year and offered to students who apply and meet the requirements. To be eligible, scholarship applicants must be officially admitted to WGU, complete the scholarship application, and be interviewed by a WGU scholarship counselor. WGU will award up to 18 scholarships. Because of the limited amount being offered, individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Find more information here.
  • Women in Technology Scholarship – IT professions keep growing and will continue to do so in the future. Each of the Women in Technology Scholarships are valued at up to $2,000, which is $500 per six-month term for up to four terms. Applications are now being accepted for these scholarships through Dec. 31. To be eligible, female applicants must be officially admitted to WGU, complete the scholarship application, and be interviewed by a WGU scholarship counselor. WGU will award up to 100 scholarships.   •  2020 Vision Scholarship - According to the Georgetown Center on Education and the Workforce, 65 percent of all jobs in the U.S. economy will require postsecondary education by the year 2020. In an effort to help prepare the workforce for these careers, Western Governors University is awarding 100 new scholarships to students pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degrees at the competency-based university. Each 2020 Vision Scholarship is valued at up to $2,000, which is $500 per six-month term for up to four terms. Applications are being accepted through Dec. 31. To be eligible for one of these scholarships, applicants must be officially admitted to WGU, complete the scholarship application, and be interviewed by a WGU scholarship counselor.   • Salute to Veterans Scholarship - WGU Nevada is offering scholarships for Veterans and their families who want to earn their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The WGU Nevada Salute to Veterans Scholarship is valued at up to $2,500 per student and will be applied at the rate of $6,250 per six-month term, renewable for up to four terms, and go towards WGU Nevada’s already-low tuition of about $3,000 per term for most programs. WGU Nevada will award up to 50 scholarships to new students in Nevada. Applications are being accepted now through Dec. 31. Find more information here.
