WGU’s 2026 Distinguished Graduates: 14 Leaders, Educators and Innovators to Watch
From healthcare and cybersecurity leaders to educators and community advocates, WGU Distinguished Graduates show how flexible, skills-based education fuels opportunity, mobility, and impact.
SALT LAKE CITY, March 4, 2026 — What do a statewide nursing leader, a national digital equity executive and a statewide life-skills education advocate have in common? They’re all Western Governors University (WGU) alumni and among the 14 honorees receiving WGU’s 2026 Distinguished Graduate Award. Selected from hundreds of nominations, the 2026 honorees exemplify WGU’s mission to expand access, promote equity and deliver real-world career outcomes. From advancing healthcare access to strengthening cybersecurity and empowering students and communities, each graduate demonstrates how flexible, skills-based education can drive lasting personal and societal impact.
“This year’s cohort of distinguished graduates embodies the very best of WGU and the far-reaching impact of our mission,” said Robert Sullivan, senior director of Alumni Relations. “As our alumni community continues to grow, so does the influence of their leadership and service. These 14 distinguished graduates are exemplary in every sense—driving meaningful change in their careers and communities while setting a powerful example for those they inspire.”
The 2026 honorees are part of WGU’s growing alumni network of more than 425,000 graduates nationwide—many of whom are first-generation college students, working adults, parents, veterans and learners from underserved backgrounds. Return on investment isn’t just something WGU talks about—it’s real. WGU bachelor's degree earners see an average salary increase of more than $21,000 within two years of graduation and more than $31,000 within four years. Master's degree earners see an average salary increase of more than $18,000 within two years and $34,000 within four years of graduation—gains that strengthen families, communities, and the workforce.
Whether leading healthcare systems, expanding digital access, mentoring future professionals or shaping policy, these distinguished graduates reflect the urgent need for—and power of—accessible, career-aligned education.
