We won’t rest until everyone has access to higher education.
You know your potential and the opportunities that will be unlocked with a respected degree. But if you’re like millions of other Americans, access to higher education may seem out of reach. That’s why at WGU, we’ve made it our mission to help. In addition to providing quality, online degrees in business, health, education, and IT, we also offer need-based scholarships to drive your ambition. With the Online Access Scholarship, WGU covers the cost of internet access and gives you all the tools you need to earn your degree from home. See how this program helped Robert, Teresa, and Eulonda break through their educational barriers—and open the door to a new life. Are you ready to join them?
When Eulonda had to leave her job as an essential worker due to her son's health concerns, maintaining internet access to earn a degree online became a challenge. WGU will be covering her Wi-Fi costs as the latest recipient of the Online Access Scholarship.
Robert is a passionate educator who is deeply involved in his community. Like 21 million Americans, he found it challenging to maintain internet access at home, even after taking on multiple jobs. Now, we’ll be covering the cost of his Wi-Fi, so he can focus on his ambitions of one day becoming a school principal.
Ashley moved to be near her parents after the birth of her child. But, in that part of the country, high-speed internet isn't readily available. Her educational plans were on hold, until we awarded her the first Online Access Scholarship.
The principal mission of WGU is to improve quality and expand access to post-secondary educational opportunities by providing a means for individuals to learn independent of time or place and to earn competency-based degrees and other credentials that are credible to both academic institutions and employers.
We help our students achieve their dreams for a degree and career success by providing a personal, flexible, and affordable education based on real-world competencies.
Three themes form the basis of how we fulfill our mission. One, we use a competency-based approach to prepare students for professional success. Two, we provide accessible and affordable academic programs through the use of technology that allows students to complete their program independent of time or place. And three, we provide programs to prepare traditionally underserved students for thriving careers in demand in the 21st-century workplace.
WGU offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business, information technology, K–12 teacher education, and health professions, including nursing. Our programs align with the most in-demand careers in today’s job market, and we continually update our existing programs—and create new ones—to meet the most current needs of employers, the economy, and our students.
