WGU Cybersecurity Student Club and Alumni Cybersecurity Club
The WGU Cybersecurity Club (WGUCC) has over 7,000 members. Theory is empty without practice. In WGUCC, everyone can gain the hands-on experience to reinforce their education. WGUCC strives for the practical application of social, ethical, and technical concepts. Club meetings will include presentations on the tools, techniques, and procedures used by current Cybersecurity experts. As part of WGUCC, students will have the opportunity to connect with individuals from all walks of life. Students can connect with other students, alumni, educators, security professionals, military personnel, and government officials as they explore the diversity of cybersecurity.
The club utilizes the NICE Cyber Challenges to learn defensive (Blue) security. There are multiple events such as TryHackMe nights, HackTheBox Saturdays, Accountability group and CTF events. The club maintains a competitive CCDC team and helps students organize for the NCL competition. Further, the club has a Khoros, Teams, Discord and an exclusive club member LinkedIn group, to exchange information, discuss multiple topics and share information about jobs and internships.
Computer Science Club
Welcome to the WGU Computer Science Club — a community for current students, alumni, and aspiring technology professionals to connect, learn, and grow together!
Our mission is to build an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive computer science community at WGU. Whether you are just starting your degree program, preparing to make a career change, currently working in the tech industry, or returning to support fellow Night Owls, you are welcome here.

Girls Who Code
Girls Who Code is here to build community and develop a supportive network of female peers (“the sisterhood”) and connect Girls Who Code alumni on WGU's virtual campus. As always this club is open to ALL students no matter how you identify, are here for support of someone in your life, or an avid ally- WELCOME!
The objectives of The Western Governors University Girls Who Code College Loop are:
- To sustain and improve retention in computer science and related disciplines
- To practice computing concepts
- To sustain and improve retention of women and underrepresented individuals in technology, cybersecurity, software development, data analytics, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and related disciplines
- To build a supportive network and professional community among WGU students interested in technology
- To provide opportunities for technical skill development through projects, workshops, study groups, and hands-on learning
- To encourage mentorship, leadership, and career readiness
- To connect members with industry professionals, Girls Who Code alumni, and internship or employment opportunities
- To promote confidence, inclusion, and lifelong learning in technology fields

WGU Women in Technology Club
The Women in Technology Club (WinTech) is an academic alliance that offers support to a diverse group of professionals to connect and become well-rounded as they navigate the field of technology for the future.
WGU’s Women in Technology student club aims to enrich the students’ tech experience through organizing activities, including programming projects, career workshops, and technical sessions by academia and industry professionals. We strive to address the gender gap issue in tech majors, and to create a healthier and more efficient ecosystem for STEM disciplines.
How to Join
1. Log In Easily using your WGU credentials to sign into WGU Connect.
2. Complete Your Profile by following the steps in the WGU Connect Onboarding Guide.
3. Ready to Join? Once you complete your profile, you'll be redirected to the SignUp/Login.
4. Click “Join” to request approval!
5. Start connecting by introducing yourself and exploring the platform!
Military Alliance Club
The purpose of the WGU Alliance Club is to foster a supportive, empowering, and inclusive community for military and military-affiliated students (including active duty, veterans, National Guard, reserves, spouses, and dependents). The club exists to:
- Provide peer support and networking opportunities
- Promote academic and professional success
- Encourage leadership development and service
- Bridge the gap between military life and higher education
WGU Chapter of the Sword and Shield National Honor Society
WGU has started a chapter of the Order of the Sword and Shield National Honor Society. Note, Sword and Shield only accepts applications in February, May, August, and November of each year.
WiCys Student Chapter at WGU
The Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys) Student Chapter at Western Governors University (WGU) is dedicated to fostering a community where women and allies can excel in cybersecurity. By offering mentorship, networking, and educational opportunities, the chapter aims to recruit, retain, and advance women in this dynamic field.
WGU Data Club
The National Student Data Corps WGU Data Club Chapter was founded on May 15, 2024, to create a community of support and a network of data science enthusiasts interested in learning about data science and applying it in their educational and career endeavors. We’ve created an inclusive and welcoming environment for data science learners and educators to achieve our Chapter objectives.
