Margaret McClure Scholarship

Celebrating nurse leaders with a special scholarship.

One thing this year has shown us is just how much America needs nurses, especially nurse leaders. So we’re celebrating the “Year of the Nurse” with a special scholarship honoring a lifelong nurse leader.

Named for Dr. Margaret McClure, the catalyst for today’s magnet hospital program, this $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one recipient each quarter who has demonstrated activism or innovation in nursing that improves patient outcomes. Apply by December 31, 2020.

Take the next step in your career. Go back to school.

WGU is ready to help with the Back to School Scholarship. Our costs are about half that of other universities. With our already low, flat-rate tuition, the scholarship may be the missing piece you need toward earning a degree that’s accredited, recognized, and respected.

WGU! We have designed our nursing programs to be the best by offering flexibility for current nurses who tend to work long hours, as well as online nursing programs for those who hope to become a nurse. Not only is flexibility offered, but current nurses may use their experience to help accelerate through their nursing programs in areas they already know, allowing them to graduate faster.

The BS Nursing (Prelicensure) program is set to be completed in 2.5 years and cannot be accelerated. The total cost for tuition with fees is $29,625.

WGU’s other nursing programs for current RN’s offer tuition at a flat rate every six months, not per credit hour. You’re simply paying for time you need to prove your competence. The faster you progress, the more you save – a big incentive to work hard, and a benefit you won’t find at other major nursing schools. Tuition and fees for WGU nursing degree programs are outlined here.

WGU offers fully online nursing programs for current RNs, and a mostly online prelicensure program for those who hope to become a nurse. Speak with an enrollment counselor in our Health Professions college to help you get started.

WGU was the perfect university for my Masters of Nursing

WGU was the perfect university for my schedule. I work as an RN. My work days are usually 12+ hours and they aren't always on the same day. I could log into the WGU portal when I had time and i could work on my projects when it was convenient for me. Sometimes this meant 10 free minutes. Sometimes this meant that I could focus for 8 + hours in a day. There are a number of colleges that offer this type of schedule, but WGU is full accredited. In addition to this, WGU takes makes education affordable. Their tuition formula decreases or eliminates the need to go into debt to pay for an education.
